One of our Frequently Asked Questions is; How does a personal chef service work? It is very simple. If you are interested in our service, we set up an appointment to come to your home, inspect your kitchen and spend about an hour getting to know you. We go over all things from your eating habits, your culinary likes and dislikes, as well as your life style. We like to spend time with all the adults in the house.
We then arrange a service to fit your life style. It could be the classic 5 by 4 (five meals four servings each), or something more tailored for you. The decision is yours. You might want services to include an extra meal for dinner with your in-laws. Or, your meals tailored for your upcoming vacationing sister in law. We build our service to fit your life. We will also establish your service, frequency of service and calendar your cook date and or dates during this initial meeting. We will also ask for a deposit at this time.
After the initial assessment and free consultation, we e-mail you either a blanket list of entrees to choose from or a customized meal plan that we previously discussed. If you decide to choose from the blanket list of entrees, we ask that you submit it to us with your choices at least 72 hours prior to your cook date. If you have a customized meal plan, we ask that you send a confirmation e-mail acknowledging your acceptance of the proposed menu. Depending upon the plan you have selected, we will then e-mail you every two weeks your proposed menu or menu selections. All you have to do is either pick out what you want us to cook for you or accept your customized menu!
On the cook date, we will grocery shop just before we arrive at your home and prepare the meals requested. Depending on the service you choose, we will package some of the meals in the refrigerator and the rest in the freezer. We will provide you with a detailed list of heating instructions, ingredient lists and any other important information pertaining to the ease of enjoying your meals. We will clean your kitchen.
We will invoice your service weekly. We will either e-mail your invoice or send it via mail, whichever you prefer. Your invoice will include a copy of your grocery receipts, with the final payment due seven days after the invoice date.
Within three days of your cook date, we will e-mail you a meal review survey. We ask that you take the two minutes to fill it out. Here we address any questions you might have with the service so that we can continue to provide for you our highest quality services.
My name is Martha Bennett, and as owner of MOMO on the Go and proud parent of one, I am pleased to bring to your home my expertise in the culinary field.
I started working in the culinary business at the age of 16. My first job was washing pots in a Hotel at Virginia Beach that catered to a specific clientele. I learned from the very start how to cater to different clients and their food preferences.
I graduated from Johnson and Wales University with Honors in 1993 and later that year opened my own Deli/Bakery and Catering Business. I operated the business successfully until 1997.
In 1997, I moved to the Peninsula of Virginia in order to give my daughter a good education and quality of life where I took a job as the assistant banquet chef with Colonial Williamsburg.
In 1999, I wanted to expand my talents and gain exposure within a quality resort, so I accepted a chef position at Kingsmill Resort. Here I fed two presidents and many heads of state and sometimes acted as a private chef for many dignified guests.
I worked in Richmond for over a year until the position of Executive Chef of the new Westin in Virginia Beach became available. Opening a hotel with a new kitchen and a unique staff presents many challenges and opportunities and I enjoyed going back to Virginia Beach to continue my career.
Now I have left the corporate environment and have taken a step out of this world in order to bring to your door my culinary talents and creations. I opened a personal chef business in order to meet the demands of the American busy life style. I bring my high quality of food and expertise right to your home. My mission statement is to bring restaurant quality food to your home in order to meet the demands of the working parents’ lifestyle. In essence, for a small fee, you have bought yourself quality of life in all definitions of the term. Quality food, quality time, quality ingredients, family time at the dinner table; and isn’t this what quality of life is all about?
